Dramatically increase trafic on site on all devices and build a strong community of people who like writing reviews about anything.
Context
PlanetRate wanted to rival Yelp and Google Reviews by offering users a Website where they could review just about anything. Since the old platform wasn't responsive, looked outdated and lacks many features, it was decided to go back to the drawing board. I helped the owners make a user-friendly and responsive Website on all platforms and shape their vision into a pleasant user interface.

We sent a survey to the users PlanetRate already had. The goal was to get user experience feedback on the key actions we expected users to take. We then took action in resolving those issues on mobile and desktop alike.

The advantages of using PlanetRate are laid out in their own section with a lot more details. Each icon is animated and has a call to action.
The look and feel is more pure with fewer colors.

The logo has been refreshed.
Elements in the top toolbar have been logically regrouped.

Thanks to the new design, the analytics data clearly showed a significant increase in the number of visits, especially on mobile.

Reflection
Working directly with business owners makes the design process much direct and easier since you work with the persons who take the business decisions. I really enjoyed shaping their vision into a concrete product while explaining them the UX and UI reasons behind each design decision. I also felt I had a lot of freedom presenting my ideas. Even though PlanetRate was gaining popularity and real traction, owners decided to move on to a different endeavour.
